Nice

I like the slightly chromatic sound you have throughout, especially in that opening melody line when it's combined with the interesting rhythm. All in all the piece is vary varied and thus holds my interest throughout. The piano sound is perfectly acceptable, perhaps not perfect but it's nice. The clapping at the end was a nice touch and gave the piece a setting. Good stuff!

Thank you very much, a really constructive review.

Varied

It's a nice piece, it has a lot of variation to keep it interesting which is something i don't find too often on Newgrounds music. All the various melodies are enjoyable and the instrumentation is great. The mixing/mastering is good too and there is little to fault other than perhaps it lacks a little direction. It's hard to tell where exactly its heading but i guess tha'ts part of the charm. Good work!

Nice

Some of the lyrics seemed a little lazy, not that much rhyme in there. But it's abstract and has a nice feel, i loved "blood red like the base of a guillotine". Another thing i always like is how original your beats are. You never have some generic hip-hop tune in the background and you always create an ambience with some interesting sounds and rhythms. Nice stuff

BigRed responds:

I have been reading a lot of my stuff at poetry nights and what I'm starting to do is hop between forms. The first half isn't really meant to be over a beat at all, and I only start writing to a beat on the line "I am the grim reaper". I think I'm fooling with the line between free form spoken word poetry and hip hop, and I definitely haven't gotten it yet.

On re-reading this though most of it is pretty lazy writing anyways, haha, just rambles without an edit. The only lines I find interesting now are the ones that contain what you picked out:

"Slow mow, withering, slick in that I'm melting. Stone only in my stoic eyes, frozen at coffee late at night, blood red like the base of a guillotine. Oh to be free"

Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated!

Pretty nice

I like the vocalish sound that takes center stage, it's interesting and the human touch (at least to my ear) adds some originality. I would say though that you've made this a 20 second loop when it could be a five second one. If your going to have the same section multiple times try and vary it a bit more, have some dynamic variation, or a section when some instruments drop out to keep it interesting. Very good for your first thing in reason though, that programs helluh confusing.

DjWalom responds:

thx for the review, i sure do find Reason pretty confusing... xD
The loop is just a little part from a new song im working on, so stay tuned! :P

Eh...

I can't decide on a winner cause you were both sick. Just wanted to leave a review saying sweet competition and a great battle to finish it on. Awesome stuff!

Ha ha

That is super catchy! I just had to smile when the whistling melody came in. It all seems pretty well produced i mean perhaps a bit repetetive but other than that good stuff!

T-Free responds:

Hey thanks, great you like it!
I will maybe add some new stuff to it soon. :]

Murdaa

Crazy good flow and some great lyrics. Good battle though!

Yeah this isn't jazz

I would say this is country bluegrass or pop. Anyhow the singing and production value is all really nice, great mastering/mixing. Everything sounds super crisp and clean the lyrics are pretty good as well. It's a little generic but it is certainly well done. Good stuff!

Dreamy drone

This is pretty sweet, i enjoy the repetition the tune is catchy enough to hold it. Perhaps the playing style could have varied a bit more as the piece went on with the guitar getting less and less staccatto and holding each note longer like a dream drifting away? Well anyhow i like it

Ha ha

I love shitty vocals! Nice song, catchy chorus, good lyrics.
