Awesome

Nice to hear a song on here with vocals and live playing. Did you write the words yourself or is this a cover? It all has a very authentic feel and all the instruments sound good. The mixing is a little off i'm not sure what's wrong but i think it might be the drums are a tad loud. The singing is nice and the melody and song structure are good. Nice work!

Stampini responds:

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Music and lyrics are by me. Took about 30 minutes to write and three years get round to recording it. You're correct about the mix, I must do better.

Nice ideas

The panning at the start is a little bit weird. I think it's a nice idea but needs to be more subtle, the sounds are so far to the right and left it's just distracting. The progression is too slow and whilst I felt excited at the start of the piece by the 1:30 mark i just felt impatient. The timpani sounds a little weak, you need to do some equalizing on that or move it around in the sound-scape to bring it forward a little.
The piece fails to ever really get anywhere, which i suppose is all right for an anticipatory piece but i think as a boss theme it's to slow and never really explodes. You have the groundwork of a good piece here i just think it needs some more work.

NordicHazard responds:

good points you putt there! thanks for your advices i will work on it!

Enjoyable

I think the echoey guitar sound works well but when the synth sound comes in it all sounds a little generic. The entrance of guitar and drums adds a little more interest but all the the rhythms are a tad simple and repetitive. The sounds flow into each other a bit to much and this along with the static harmonic progression this makes for a slow piece. I can imagine female vocals over the top really improving this. The song structure is a little simplistic and i think having shorter fills or pre-chorus riffs could add a little excitement, everything seems to be hanging on long four chord sequences. The sound quality is nice and the mixing is good. I enjoy the panning at 3:00. Good luck with adding the vocals, i think you've got some potential here!

I'm a big fan of experimental music

and i think you have stumbled across something nice here. However i feel it lacks structure or movement and that leaves the piece feeling fairly static. I think adjusting the volume at parts or perhaps adding some percussive element unreversed could be nice. A vocal sample over the top could also be interesting if you could find someone talking on the right subject matter. Anyhow i like what you've done and this song shall have a place on my local library.

Thanks for the comment! :D
I am very very VERY happy that you liked this song :3

Relaxing

The voices are really nice, and the editing you have done to them creates a very relaxed ambient feel. The guitar riff is enjoyable enough to be looped as many times as you have. The songs structure is simple but that helps me feel as though i am travelling on a journey and the end of the song has a sense of arrival. I'm not sure what to critique, perhaps, i think, the guitar could do with some equalizing. It sounds a little twangy at times.

Thanks a lot!

Indeed, repetitive.

As you've said your going for a minimalist style, and that you have achieved, however i don't feel the melody or instrumentation hold up enough to have such a long and repetitive song. I would recommend having melodies that intertwine or that overlap each other in such a way that when looped long cycles appear. I enjoyed the sound affects and they helped add some interest but i still think more needs to be done to keep the listeners attention. I like the title though, and the part that enters at 1:12 is cool.

Thefur responds:

Sure it was not up to the standard yet, but it was interesting that it would at the very least turned out that way. Thanks for your opinion!

Professional Sounding

They don't want you to write a description, they want you to write "Author comments". Say stuff about how you made the song, what inspired you, if you had help from any friends, the things you learnt whilst making etc. The song itself is fairly generic, the instruments are all typical of the genre and the guitar riffs weren't exactly mind blowing. However i enjoyed the quieter section at 1:40 and the choir sounded nice. The song is a little repetitive, perhaps some vocals could add some interest? The sound production is great and all the instruments sound nice. Perhaps a little to much reverb at parts.... You obviously know what you're doing so i just reccomend you experiment a little more. Good stuff!

mr-vincent responds:

Hahahaha men, thank you ! I'm doing all this alone with Cubase and Reason and my guitar :p

Vocals will be a great Idea, but I don't sing...

Thanks for the good comment !
