Nice

Very heavy and thumping, you definitely got the feel of an industrial city full of machines for manufacturing. Despite the repetitive nature of the sound and the "un tss un tss un tss" beat, i didn't feel bored at all whilst listening. I guess this is thanks to your enjoyable choice of instrument sounds and song structure. The melodies did the job and the whole thing fit together nicely. An industrial journey indeed!

Thefur responds:

very glad that you actually like it very much!

Love it!

I have no idea of the source of the audio clip, so i'm not sure if it's famous or not, but i really enjoyed it never the less. The echoey synth at the start is great, and the melody it plays is really catchy and full of life. The part that starts at 0:29 is slightly slower and more repetitive, with a more anticipatory feel than the excitement of the previous section. The song's structure isn't particularly exciting, but it creates a great atmosphere that keeps me gripped throughout. I especially enjoyed the piano that enters at the end. So the only real thing i'd criticise is the structure, good stuff!

Falonefal responds:

Thank you, the audio clip is from "The Departed" a great movie, you should watch it :)

Also I intended for the structure to be a build-up structure :)

Nice!

I loved the splicing of the vocal sample. Awesome concept of the slow pads in the background and this sudden burst of short staccato vocals. Shame it wasn't longer, and i didn't really like the wobble bass. I didn't feel it really fit in with the rest of the song. The percussion was nice though, and everything else melded well. Neat idea.

Geostigma250 responds:

agreed.. the wobbles are off beat....

Relaxing

I would say this is more Ambient than Classical. But really genre placement isn't a big deal, and I'm sure it could go into either. I like the slow build up of intstruments and how they layer upon one another. However this type of song progression can feel a little repetitive and slow moving. Your piece certainly does move from it's start to a different place for it's end, but it is a little cliche and jolly for my liking. The end melodies are a little to simplistic and i think a little chromaticism may have been nice.
Still it's well mixed and the instruments all sound great, and my distaste for happy music is purely personal. Keep it up!

Thanks man for your complete review, i appreciate :)

Clean and enjoyable

Enjoyable start, nice to have something a little from the usual drone with the rhythm you've managed to mix in. The piano sounds a little weird, a bit muffled perhaps, or to sharp a decay? I'm not sure but somehow it sounds a little off. The rest of the instruments sound great and your time spend mixing has paid off, everything sits nicely in it's place and you've made full use of both sides of the sound scape. The synth that comes in at 2:30 sounds a little dissonant, but the melody line it plays is enjoyable and creates an atmosphere of anticipation. The piece's structure is nice and i never found myself bored or tired of repetition. Overall i enjoyed this song even though trance is really my type of music. You've obviously put some effort into this and that comes through in it's cleanness. Good stuff!

Thank you, PIED3. This is kinda what I was hoping for, you made a great review.

I was "sound-blind" when I was mixing the part where all the instruments play at once so the day after, I had to go back and re-edit everything. I am thankful you pointed out somethings out for me, really appreaciated.

Once again, thank you for the depth in your review.

Really nice!

Lovely melodies and chord patterns. The main theme is particularly attractive and really grabs my attention and gets me bobbing along. I like the breakdown at 1:19, and the swelling drown like instrument that begins plodding along is engaging and soothing on my ears. In fact all the instrumentation and mixing and mastering is very good, a nice mesh of sounds and texture that meld together into a rich organic raucous. The song structure is interesting and notably different to most songs, this i don't mind, and you've done it in an effective way. The excitement of the song lies at the start, and then i feel the piece calm and drift away. All in all i really liked this, especially the little counter melody that first enters at 0:38. Sorry i can't give you much advice on how to improve, but i can say well done on creating a thoroughly enjoyable piece!

Bunnymajs responds:

Thanks allot for the words.. it only took me about 3 years to complete this song, perhaps that is the reason for it being so diverse and diffrent seeing as i have changed style of my tunes quite allot over the years :)
But none the less.. Very pleasant review, and again.. thanks!

Great!

In all honesty i don't know much about Techno but i'll try and give you some advice. First off, the start is great. Nice arpeggios, good rhythm and the other melody that builds up on top fits perfectly. However when we have the change at 0:44 instead of sounding fuller and more prominent the melodies feel a little more lost. I think you need to up the treble in that part of the mix or do something to stop the piece getting lost in the bass. The change at 1:30 is refreshing, and brings in a new tone and pace for the song. However i feel the melodies in this section are sometimes a little random. The gating in the higher pitched synth is really cool and creates some nice rhythms. The little part at 2:28 is super stylish, love the distortion and pitch bend and the fade to silence. I feel you could have a had a short swell form the silence into the drop but i'm not sure if that'd actually sound good. The break down at 3;00 is great too, feels magical and spooky. Nice use of eq and reverb. When it starts again 3:44 i think some more glitchy elements and a general louder feel would have seemed more natural than what you have which seems a little subdued. When the song looped i actually thought the intro was the outro, so i'd try putting it at the end because it's a good call back and reminds the listener of the pieces vast progress.
All in all it was a surprisingly entertaining listening experience, especially as i'm not a big fan of the genre. Great work and all the best in finishing it!

FacenessMonster responds:

Thank you very much for your insight, Ill take your suggestions into consideration and hopefully have a great final product. I will definitely use the acoustic strings as an outro and try to progressively fade out from there. I am very proud of that part at 2:28. Again, thanks for the extra pair of ears, i have already started revising some stuff.

Much obliged!

Horay, singing!

I always like hearing people who have given singing a go on NG because it's surprisingly rare. But there is a reason for it's rarity, and that's the fact it's hard to get right. In all honesty your singing is out of tune, or your guitar hasn't been tuned perfectly. Either way there is a something a little off. That being said you have an enjoyable singing style, and your voice sounds good. The lyrics are fun and the melody is catchy. The percussion does it's job and the guitar playing is fine. The recording quality is obviously not the best and the drums get a little lost at times. Perhaps a little work on the mixing could fix that. All in all it was an enjoyable listen, keep it up!

TheMidget responds:

Thank you so much for review! I'll definitely have to work on these flaws, but I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
